Well hello there and welcome to my humble and thoroughly soulful blog.
In this creative space of the world wide web, I will journey through the food I feed my friends and family, share my food philosophy and undoubtedly make your stomachs rumble and your mouths uncontrollably salivate.
As a Leo, perfection and creativity symbiotically rule my daily being and my kitchen has been the constant centre of therapy in my life - encouraging no limits to creativity and a passion-fuelled perfection.
My love affair with food began with an upside down pear cake featured in Vogue Food and Entertaining back when I was only 7 years old. This flourished into an obsession to bake traditional Greek cakes and biscuits with my mum, collecting cookbooks like their candy and travelling the world to inspire my taste buds.
Lemon & Oregano is an hommage to my Greek heritage, which I have learnt to love and cherish through food. At the core of this evergrowing love is the untransalatable concept of philotimia. Literally, philotimo means friend of honour. But philotimo is exceedingly so much more. The philosopher Thales said, "philotimo to the Greeks is like breathing. A Greek is not a Greek without it. He might as well not be alive." My parents chanted the word until it became a philosophy for my daily life, taking on the meaning of living life with an infectious zest and humbling humility and opening your heart to others as a home should be opened to your neighbour.
So, it is this philosophy that I share with you, so that you too can open your hearts to the world of beauty, respect the land that feeds our souls and share the act of eating with those you love.
